Taking Over My Head

Recently re-elected North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il.

North Korean Soldiers

After reading 1984, Brave New World, and Handmaid's Tale, I am on a whole totalitarian kick right now. Can't get enough. So creepy..

Courtroom Portraits

This is my first and hopefully last post of celebrity gossip, and Lindsey Lohan of all people, but I love this drawing. Lohan had a hearing the other day in which cameras were not permitted, leaving the public with this drawing

This inspired me to do a quick google image search of other courtroom drawings. Here are a few others that I like. I would love to frame and hang these. Such an funny, unusual moment to capture through drawing.

Bloody Mess Beef Stroganoff

Beef Stroganoff is one of my favorite comfort meals. Today, I made it for the first time with surprisingly good results. I couldn't find a recipe I liked so I made one up. I changed the directions to make it easier, and less of a mess.

1) Chop one small onion and a pkg of mushrooms. Set aside.
2) Start boiling water and heat olive oil in a skillet
3) Seasons 1 lb. flank steak with salt and pepper. Slice.
4) Add sliced steak to skillet. Cook through on medium/high heat. When done, set aside on plate. Clean skillet. Reheat skillet with olive oil.
5) Add egg noodles (desired amount for 3-4 servings) to boiling water.
6) Add onions and mushrooms to skillet. Cook and toss occasionally for about 6 mins. over medium/high heat.
7) Add 3/4 cup chicken broth to skillet. Reduce heat to medium/low. Let simmer for about 5 mins.
8) Stir in 1/3 cup sour cream. Let simmer for about 2 mins then add steak.
9) Let mixture cook for a few minutes then serve over noodles. Garnish with parsley.
*) If you want to up the fatty factor I would hand grate romano parmesan cheese on top before serving.

My friend Alex recently made his first music video debut with the help of our friend Natalie. The video is very sweet and captures Lexington, where it was shot, very well. And oh yeah, the song is great too.

World Equestrian Games

The World Equestrian Games started yesterday in my hometown, Lexington, KY. It is the first time the games have been in the U.S.A. I cannot wait to go and take pictures of my own.

Is anyone else sick of EDGY?

I am!

Fashion week has started! Attending a show last night, I was so disappointed that designers are presenting the same ole stuff as 3, 4 years ago. Cropped, black leather jackets, distressed minis, styled with tough boots, lots of black eyeliner, and scowls. Now time for something new..

Cindy Sherman for Balenciaga

Cindy Sherman has teamed up with Balenciaga to create six photographs inspired by her well known self portraits. For those of you who don't know, Cindy Sherman is an American photographer who started in the 1970s taking photographs of herself playing different female roles, bringing attention to the fact that women are often placed, expected to play certain parts. Here are some of her past works followed by a new Balenciaga image.
