Hollywood Hills

I just flipped through the new issue of online home magazine Lonny. I loved these two photos of this home in West Hollywood Hills. The bedroom's matching bedside tables and white bedding give the room a costal motel vibe. Now I am daydreaming of what it must be like to live in a motel near the beach..feels nice!

Color Story

I love this photograph as inspiration for a color story for fashion. Seems so fresh but a little retro too. AND I have always loved taxidermied animals, although I have never thought about parrots. Wallabees Remixed

Have you noticed how American footwear classics have been "updated" lately?, tie dyed Sperrys and wedged desert boots, to name a few. These approaches are okay, but this pair that I spotted today at the Brooklyn Flea is amazing. Pony hair base with embroidered trim. I would love to own these. Too bad they were a men's size. I want to see other classic shoes luxed up like this. Beautiful!

Double Vision

This is the freshest spread I have seen in a while. I just got the Dec./Jan. issue of Interview (It always arrives at least 2 months late). It features Rihanna on the cover (meh.)and is one of their better issues. I think part of why the spread seems so new is the models and their skin color. Black models have been featured (a little bit) more in magazines but have you noticed how light they are? For instance, Elle magazine drastically lightened the skin of Gabourey Sabide for their cover. Also, Interview either digitally retouched their cover of Rihanna or used lighting techniques to make her appear lighter. BUT in Ludivine Poiblanc's spread featuring models Melodie Monrose and Anais Mali, the color of their skin is played up, not down, creating a look that is rarely seen in fashion magazines. Oh, and the styling is not bad either.

Fashion Movie: Bonnie and Clyde

I finally watched the movie Bonnie and Clyde. I have heard from magazines, style books, and friends that it is an inspirational fashion film. Although I did like Faye Dunaway's style in the movie and the plain, thirsty landscapes were nice to look at, I would not call it inspirational. I definitely like stylists' more dreamed up versions of the movie that I have seen in various fashion mags. (It has been done SO many times!) Here are some screen shots:




I want to see women with this hair and makeup.







This flat landscape makes me want to drive through the midwest.





My favorite still. The only kind of twisted part of the movie. Also, the only visually arresting shot.
