Finderskeepers.

I just started redoing my livingroom/diningroom/kitchen this past week. My first purchase for my makeover is a set of beautiful agate prints from the store Finderskeepers in Lexington, KY. I am so happy that they moved from the more obscure Mt. Sterling, KY to my hometown of Lexington. They have a great website and an even better blog which you can visit at: finderskeepersmarketinc.blogspot.com/

Agate prints.

They also have surprisingly reasonable prices like these frames for $28.

The store.

A place of one's own.

Gloria Vanderbilt brilliantly turns modest elements into gaudy goodness.

Sunday Service

Featured in Wallpaper Magazine.

Carven

Check out the Paris -based line Carven below. This collection is proper yet clever, and too witty to be preppy. I especially like the A-line jackets and hem lines. I’d wear it all.

Creatures of the Wind

I finally have started really going through FW11 fashion shows. Scrolling through Style.com I came across a former teacher’s collection. Creatures of the Wind is based out of Chicago and is amazing! I love the quirky color combinations and the variety of texture, especially the plaid mohair. See some of the looks below:

I found it!

The BEST red nail polish is Geranium by Essie. The color is a little orangey which makes it more youthful, and less dame-ish. It is flattering on all skin tones and is appropriate to wear all year. My friend Ivy got me hooked! Apply to short nails. Long red nails are creepy.

Saved by the Bell

In the late 70s Punks started wearing skinny jeans in protest of disco. Today, I wear bellbottoms in protest of jeggings.

I recommend the Bell Jean in the Carnival wash by Current/ Elliott.

Hollywood Hills

I just flipped through the new issue of online home magazine Lonny. I loved these two photos of this home in West Hollywood Hills. The bedroom's matching bedside tables and white bedding give the room a costal motel vibe. Now I am daydreaming of what it must be like to live in a motel near the beach..feels nice!

Color Story

I love this photograph as inspiration for a color story for fashion. Seems so fresh but a little retro too. AND I have always loved taxidermied animals, although I have never thought about parrots. See a larger version of this along with other amazing photographs at my favorite blog: lehelicopter.com.

Wallabees Remixed

Have you noticed how American footwear classics have been "updated" lately?, tie dyed Sperrys and wedged desert boots, to name a few. These approaches are okay, but this pair that I spotted today at the Brooklyn Flea is amazing. Pony hair base with embroidered trim. I would love to own these. Too bad they were a men's size. I want to see other classic shoes luxed up like this. Beautiful!

Double Vision

This is the freshest spread I have seen in a while. I just got the Dec./Jan. issue of Interview (It always arrives at least 2 months late). It features Rihanna on the cover (meh.)and is one of their better issues. I think part of why the spread seems so new is the models and their skin color. Black models have been featured (a little bit) more in magazines but have you noticed how light they are? For instance, Elle magazine drastically lightened the skin of Gabourey Sabide for their cover. Also, Interview either digitally retouched their cover of Rihanna or used lighting techniques to make her appear lighter. BUT in Ludivine Poiblanc's spread featuring models Melodie Monrose and Anais Mali, the color of their skin is played up, not down, creating a look that is rarely seen in fashion magazines. Oh, and the styling is not bad either.
